The New Mexico Department of Health finalized the policies on the Registry Identification Card system in December of 2008. These policies include definitions on "adequate supply", medical need, and debilitating conditions. They also include patient requirements for ID cards as well as the guidelines for primary caregivers. It declares the requirements for application, applicant expecations, as well as the renewal processes. DOH will be montioring production facilities on a regular basis and has written in the guidelines to searches, legal action, prosecution, and all criminal penalties. Application and Reg. for Patient Personal Production

Consistent with the Lynn and Erin Compassionate Use Act, the New Mexico Department of Health has determined what constitutes an “adequate supply” of medical marijuana. Under the New Mexico Department of Health temporary regulation, you have the right to possess up to six (6) ounces of usable cannabis. If you wish to produce your own medical cannabis, you must apply for a separate license to do so.

Above is the website for the New Mexico Department of Health - Medical Cannabis Program. New Mexico's Cannabis Program is currently accepting and approving applications for the production and distribution of cannabis for qualified patients. Under DOH supervision, licensed nonprofits can produce and distribute cannabis to qualified medical marijuana patients. DOH has 23 approved licensed producers. DOH is also continuing to register qualified patients in the program. There are currently over 11,400 qualified patients registered in New Mexico.
